Hey LU members!
This is “Dictator” Cara your co-founder and second administrator. Just wanted to remind everyone of a few key facts. As well as let you know about an upcoming surprise. Please keep reading this until the very end, even if you already know it because my mind jumps and I may end up letting something slip about this surprise. (Hint! Hint!)
Banners:
Okay so people have forgotten again but this is to remind everyone (FOR THE LAST TIME) that banners have to be EXACTLY 400x150 in pixels in dimension. If it’s 398x149 IT’S WRONG. We do this so the site’s layout isn’t adversely affected and so that it all looks uniform and not sloppy.
Categories:
Please make sure you have all the categories that your story applies to. Your story should have the Series category (1), the pairing category (2), and if it’s HYD it should have whether it’s based on the Live Action or the Manga (3). If you have only one category on your story it‘s wrong. Contact us. Either your internet browser rejects some javascript functions (Like Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, and some versions of Safari) or you just didn’t put them up and don’t know how to. That’s fine. ASK US. It’s (sort of) what we’re here for.
Disclaimer:
It goes in your story notes. ALL THE TIME. Regardless of if you put it in your profile or on another story. It goes in your story notes. Not the summary. Not the chapter notes. THE STORY NOTES. PERIOD.
If you break these rules we send you an e-mail warning you that you have three days to fix it or your story is invalidated.
Invalidated does NOT mean deleted. Your story is still on the website, but no one can access it to read it, review it, or update it. All you as the author can do is mess with your story info, which means that once it’s invalidated all you can do is fix or remove your banner, fix your categories, add a disclaimer, etc. After a while if you still haven’t done what we NEED you to do then we DO delete your story. And just so you know, we’ll be going through EVERY story on the site on June 5th and making sure it all matches the rules. So if you aren’t following the rules, get prepared to have the same headache you’ve been giving us.
Don’t like it? Tough cookies. Delete your account if you have a problem following our rules. Don’t know how? Ask us. >3 We’ll be happy to do it for you.
The Shoutbox:
Okay so everyone has been wanting the Shoutbox back right? Because it’s more convenient? Fine, Suzumi and I are willing to give you the SB back, but there are conditions. In fact, one you’re done reading this you have to comment here and say that you agree with these conditions. Why? So that if you break them I can show you the post where you said you agree and I can smack you with a rolled up newspaper. (Just kidding… maybe.)
1.) The main use of the Shoutbox is for people with questions or suggestions for the site. It's also a place for people to ask the basic questions (How do I favorite something? How do I change the layout? ...etc.) to the members before coming to the three of us with it.
2.) It’s secondary function is to allow members to count to the next benchmark like we used to. (Notice we stopped putting up banners and counting with you?) We’re going to be doing it again.
3.) Commenting on the SB to say you’ve updated/are updating a fic is NOT allowed. It’s what we have the Most Recent section for. Everyone on the site can see it so they know. Also, if a member likes your story and wants to know when you update it then they can favorite your story and get e-mailed when you update it. So really you’re just spamming the Shoutbox and giving me a headache. STOP IT.
4.) Chit chat (IN ENGLISH) is fine. Feel free to ask someone how their day was. But if the chit chat turns into conversation go to the chatroom we have linked on the main page. You can pull it up in an extra window and turn on the sound so that you know when people message you and you can read at the same time.
That’s right folks we’ll give you the Shoutbox back and let you keep the chatroom. Just follow those FOUR EASY EASY EASY rules and you get to keep BOTH of them. Break them. I’ll take them BOTH away.
That’s it, just follow all the rules and everything will be fine. Oh the surprise, here’s a hint. I promised a few readers that I would start writing again. I also promised other people that there would be a new version to play with since they're bored with the current ones. Soon.

If I can make a suggestions though... the previous news disappeared as soon as you put this up.
The link to LU twitter is gone as well.
Could it be possible to have an archive of the previous news so that we don't loose anything? Or does it exist and I just can't find it?

Hi! Read this from the start until the end, and I agree to the conditions and I promise to follow the rules. I will be going through my stories now and make the necessary adjustments -- I don't want to be smacked by a rolled up newspaper. :)

Hey! I agree with all the rules so if you catch me breaking them then by all means whack me with that rolled up newspaper of yours.. BTW, is there a link somewhere that would lead me to the list of completed fics? Or one-shots??? ^_^

I agree. I'll be doing the resizing of the banners right now. I am sorry if I haven't done it before. I was out of the country and have not checked my e-mails only from the phone and I can't do anything with it. I hope it's okay :D

Yes'm, Cara! Will follow all the rules. Except I think you should post this somewhere more noticeable- I rarely ever look at the very bottom of the homepage of this website, and it was by chance that I came across this. I do like the Chatroom AND the Shoutbox and have no desire for it to be taken away because of other people breaking the rules, so maybe this letter could be made so that it's something the readers will most definitely see? I know that it was posted on Misty's story 'I Will Rip Your Wings Off,' but it didn't really strike me as anything until I thought about it later. :P
But yay for the Shoutbox being back =]

what can we do about it, too... :D headaches are not good for dictators you know... :D and I agree to follow the rules... but I have a question, if the stories get invalidated or somesort, do they get in-invalidated, too? Once we followed all the rules? thanks for making LU more, uh, more.... disciplined... I mean, the authors... :D Good luck and God bless.
